What it is

Donorbox is a donation platform built around embeddable forms and pop-up donation widgets. It handles one-time and recurring gifts, and it is genuinely fast to set up: many organizations are taking donations the same day.

The honest math

There is no monthly minimum on the entry plan, which makes Donorbox attractive when donation volume is low. In exchange, Donorbox keeps a platform fee of roughly 1.5 to 1.75% of each donation, and that is on top of card processing (around 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction at nonprofit rates). Higher paid plans lower the platform fee, so past a certain monthly volume it is worth doing the arithmetic on whether a flat monthly plan beats the percentage.

Who it fits

Small nonprofits that want to start accepting online donations quickly without committing to a monthly bill. Recurring giving is a particular strength, and donors can cover the fees at checkout.

The honest take

A solid, well-regarded default for the small end of the market. Watch the stacked fees as you grow and compare against the paid tiers. We are not currently enrolled in Donorbox’s affiliate program, so the link above is a plain link to their site.
